TEMPERANCE, Mich. — The Bedford Township Planning Commission opened a public hearing Wednesday night on a request to put an auto repair shop at 7300 Lewis Avenue, according to the commission’s posted agenda.

Jascott Properties LLC, with Richard Snyder listed as its authorized representative, is asking the commission for a special approval use for the shop. The agenda places the property on the east side of Lewis Avenue, south of Sterns Road, on parcel 5802-035-047-20.

The regular meeting began at 7 p.m. Oct. 14. The commission meets at the Bedford Township Government Center, 8100 Jackman Road, according to a township notice. The agenda sets aside two public comment periods of three minutes per speaker; the first is limited to items on the agenda.

The agenda posted on the township website did not include a staff report or site plan, so details such as the size of the shop, its hours or the number of service bays were not available ahead of the meeting.

The agenda also listed a request from God’s Grace Church to change the insert on a non-conforming sign at 8240 Monroe Road in Lambertville, inside the Lambertville Village Overlay District, and approval of the Sept. 23 minutes.

The commission will not meet again this month. Township Clerk Trudy L. Hershberger posted a notice Oct. 13 canceling the Oct. 28 regular meeting “due to the election.” The next meeting is Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Government Center.

Early voting for the Nov. 3 election runs Oct. 24 through Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at the Government Center, for all 14 township precincts, according to the township.

Updated Oct. 15, 2026: The hearing was Wednesday night, Oct. 14, so this story’s headline and schedule language are now in the past tense. As of Thursday morning, the township’s agendas and minutes page still had no Oct. 14 Planning Commission minutes or a posted result for the Lewis Avenue auto-repair request.
