JENISON, Mich. — Georgetown Charter Township’s board was scheduled Monday night to take up a $7.38 million construction contract for the next stretch of a major water-transmission main along Baldwin Street.

Item 17 on the Oct. 12 agenda asked the board to hire Kamminga & Roodvoets, Inc., for $7,384,877.50 to build Phase 3 of the Baldwin Street transmission main, as recommended by the Utilities Committee. Bid tabs and committee minutes are attached to the packet on the township’s Agenda Center.

A related bond resolution with Ottawa County was also on the agenda. Utilities recommended the board adopt and sign the resolution covering planned 2027 water improvements, with supporting contract language, a construction time schedule and a notice of referendum in the packet.

The same meeting stacked several other public-works and public-safety votes. Services Committee asked the board to request an additional Ottawa County sheriff’s deputy and overtime funding so other contracted deputies can be backfilled. Finance recommended a $182,675 purchase of a Prinoth SW50 sidewalk snowplow from R.E.M. & Associates, LLC, plus 2026 and 2027 budget amendments and a switch of legal-notice publications to the Grand Rapids Legal News.

Zoning was on the calendar too. The Planning Commission recommended Ordinance No. 2026-08 (REZ2604), amending Chapters 3, 19 and 22 of the zoning ordinance on building sites, plats and planned-unit-development review. The board was also set for a first reading of Ordinance No. 2026-10, which would require a southward street connection of 28th Avenue to Bauer Road before new plats or land divisions in a defined corridor south of Cedar West Drive.

Near the end of the night, the agenda called for a closed session on property acquisition under MCL 15.268(d), then a possible resolution authorizing the supervisor and clerk to make an offer and close. The regular meeting was listed for 7 p.m. at the township offices, 1515 Baldwin Street.

Updated Oct. 13, 2026: This story was written before the Oct. 12 board meeting, and its headline and meeting language have been changed to the past tense. As of Tuesday, Oct. 13, the township had not posted minutes or a result. A notice in the packet describes the Ottawa County bond contract as adopted Oct. 12 and opens a 45-day referendum window, but it was prepared before the meeting, so The Mitten Daily is not treating it as a vote record.

Updated Oct. 14, 2026: As of Wednesday midday, Oct. 14, the township’s Agenda Center still listed the Oct. 12 board agenda (amended Oct. 13) with no minutes posted, and no news report of the Baldwin water-main or bond votes had appeared. The Oct. 12 Utilities Committee meeting is marked cancelled on the Agenda Center.
