Two-time Grammy winner Terrance Simien brings zydeco to Michigan Tech’s Rozsa Center Nov. 13, with pay-as-you’re-able tickets
HOUGHTON, Mich. — A little Louisiana heat is headed for the Keweenaw in November.
Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience play Michigan Tech’s Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in the James and Margaret Black Performance Hall. Seating begins at 7 p.m.
Simien, a seventh-generation Louisiana Creole and two-time Grammy winner, has been playing for more than 40 years. His music appears in films including “The Big Easy,” and he contributed to Disney’s 2009 “The Princess and the Frog” and the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride, according to the Rozsa. His band mixes veteran players with younger musicians and has played all 50 states and more than 45 countries.
Tickets. Public tickets are Pay As You’re Able, with a $28 full fee, at rozsatickets.com or the Rozsa Box Office. Michigan Tech students can get Student Rush tickets by logging in with university credentials. Earplugs are available on request.
Make a weekend of it. The Rozsa, the largest theater in the U.P., sits on the Michigan Tech campus a short walk from downtown Houghton’s restaurants along Shelden Avenue, and across the lift bridge from Hancock.
