Big North champion Marquette, winners of six straight, visits unbeaten Kingsford Friday in the TV6 Game of the Week
MARQUETTE, Mich. — Two of the U.P.’s hottest football teams meet Friday night when Marquette Senior High travels to Kingsford for the regular-season finale.
Marquette has won six straight and is coming off the win over Petoskey that clinched the Big North Conference, TV6 reported. Kingsford is unbeaten after knocking off Menominee in Week 8 to take the West-PAC’s Copper Crown.
The game is the ninth TV6 Game of the Week of the season. Kickoff at Kingsford is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23. Kingsford leads the all-time series, according to Michigan Prep Football’s game page.
What’s at stake. Friday is the last regular-season game before the MHSAA playoff pairings are announced, so both teams are playing for momentum. A road win would give Marquette its signature result of the season; a Kingsford win would finish the Flivvers’ regular season unbeaten.
How to follow. TV6 carries the game as its Game of the Week, with highlights in its Friday Night Fever coverage. Playoff pairings will be posted on the MHSAA website.
