Halloween week in Marquette: free laser shows on the Lower Harbor Ore Dock Oct. 29–31, then the Queen City Trick or Trot
MARQUETTE, Mich. — The century-old ore dock in Marquette’s Lower Harbor becomes a Halloween light show again next week.
Fresh Coast Light Lab and Travel Marquette are presenting free Halloween Lasers on the Ore Dock Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 29–31. The state’s tourism calendar lists the shows from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday; one Saturday listing shows a later start, so check Travel Marquette’s calendar before you head out on Halloween night. The best view is from Mattson Lower Harbor Park.
Tips. Dress for the lake. Late-October evenings on the Marquette waterfront are usually in the 30s or 40s, and wind off Lake Superior makes it feel colder. The show is outdoors and free; parking around the Lower Harbor fills on busy nights.
Queen City Trick or Trot, Saturday, Oct. 31. Halloween morning brings a costumed run through town, presented by Nicolet National Bank. The Kids Monster Mile for ages 1 to 12 starts at 11 a.m., and the 5K and 10K start at noon, according to the race’s registration page. Entry is $10 for the kids’ mile, $30 for the 5K and $40 for the 10K, plus processing fees. Online registration stays open until 10:30 a.m. race day for the kids’ race and 11:30 a.m. for the 5K and 10K.
Make a day of it: the run wraps up by early afternoon, leaving time for downtown trick-or-treating and the lasers after dark.
