Petoskey plans a full rebuild of Bay, Rose, Williams and Clinton streets in 2027, with new sidewalks and sewer mains
PETOSKEY, Mich. — Petoskey has started design work on a full reconstruction of several streets near Bay and Rose streets, a project scheduled for 2027 that would replace pavement, sidewalks and aging pipes underground, according to the city’s capital improvement plan.
The project, listed as S&D-2701, covers Bay Street from Division to Clinton, Rose Street from Division to just east of Clinton, Williams Street from Bay to Rose, and Clinton Street from East Lake to Rose. The street work is budgeted at $1.65 million from the city’s streets budget, the plan says.
A companion sidewalk replacement project, SW-2701, is budgeted at $430,000 and would be done at the same time, including ADA-compliant ramps, according to the city.
Why. The city’s project page says the streets rate 1 to 3 on the PASER pavement scale, which runs from 1 for failed to 10 for excellent, and that the sanitary sewer and water mains beneath them are old and undersized. The plan also lists repairs and upgrades to the sanitary main.
What’s next. Initial design and engineering began this month, the Petoskey News-Review reported. Construction is scheduled for 2027.
