Royal Oak’s Beaumont hospital makes Healthgrades’ 100 best for cardiac care for a third straight year, plus nine more 2027 awards
ROYAL OAK — Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak is again on Healthgrades’ list of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care, the third year in a row it has made that list.
The hospital on West 13 Mile Road also received 2027 Healthgrades awards for cardiology, coronary intervention (angioplasty with a stent), critical care, stroke care, pulmonary care and three types of gastrointestinal care, along with an emergency hospitalization award, according to its Healthgrades profile.
Healthgrades, a Denver-based website for comparing doctors and hospitals, announced its 2027 specialty awards on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The company said it looked at outcomes at about 4,500 hospitals across 31 common procedures and conditions.
The awards are built on deaths and complications among Medicare patients from 2023 through 2025, so they do not reflect younger patients with private insurance. Specialty Excellence awards go to hospitals in the top 15% in a given specialty. The top-100 and top-50 lists are narrower honors in 15 specialty areas, not one overall national ranking.
Across Michigan, 35 hospitals were recognized for specialty care, Patch reported. Patch counted five Michigan hospitals on Healthgrades’ top-100 lists, including Royal Oak’s Beaumont and Corewell’s Beaumont Hospital in Troy, along with Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Beacon Kalamazoo and Ascension Providence Hospital’s Southfield campus.
Healthgrades’ cardiac care award covers results in heart bypass surgery, coronary procedures, heart attack treatment, heart failure treatment and heart valve surgery. Patients can look up each hospital’s ratings by procedure on the Healthgrades site before scheduling care.
