Royal Oak, at 4-4 after two straight losses, hosts 6-2 Clawson in Friday's regular-season finale
ROYAL OAK, Mich. — Royal Oak High School closes its regular season at home Friday, Oct. 23, against Clawson, with kickoff at 7 p.m.
The Ravens are 4-4 and 3-2 in the OAA Gold, according to MaxPreps. They started 4-2 but have lost two straight: 55-13 to Ferndale on Oct. 9, as the Eagles clinched the Gold title outright, and 49-0 to Rochester in a crossover game Oct. 16.
Clawson comes in at 6-2.
Royal Oak's wins came over St. Clair Shores Lake Shore (28-6), Waterford Kettering (27-13), Pontiac (41-12) and Berkley (35-23). The Ravens have been better on the road this season, 3-1, than at home, 1-3. They have scored 171 points and allowed 238.
A win would put Royal Oak at 5-4. Under MHSAA rules, six wins in a nine-game season earns an automatic playoff berth, and five-win teams can still fill remaining spots based on playoff points. The MHSAA announces the field Sunday, Oct. 25, and first-round games are Oct. 30-31.
The game is at Royal Oak High School, 1500 Lexington Blvd. Across town, Shrine Catholic plays for the Catholic League's Cardinal Championship on Saturday at Ford Field.
