Updated Oct. 17, 2026: Correction: This preview said St. Ignace would play at Brimley on Friday, Oct. 16. That game was canceled; Brimley Area Schools’ athletics calendar lists it as “Canceled.” St. Ignace instead played at Stephenson, where Stephenson Area Public Schools had scheduled the game as its senior night, and won 73-22, WLUC-TV reported. The MaxPreps schedules this preview relied on had not been updated. The headline and summary were also updated Oct. 17 to name the actual opponent; the rest of the story appears as originally published.

ST. IGNACE, Mich. — St. Ignace finishes its league schedule Friday night at Brimley, where a win would give the Saints a 4-1 league record. Their only league loss came against Pickford, which went unbeaten in league play.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Brimley High School, 7134 S. M-221, according to MaxPreps schedules for both schools.

St. Ignace (6-1, 3-1 league) has won three straight since its only loss, 44-14 at home to Pickford on Sept. 18. The Saints won 24-8 at Inland Lakes on Sept. 25, shut out Bellaire 46-0 on Oct. 2 and beat Rudyard 20-12 last Friday. They have outscored opponents 260-92 this season, MaxPreps shows.

Brimley (3-4, 0-3) is still looking for its first league win. All three of the Bays’ victories came at home, the latest a 66-22 win over Pellston last week. Their league losses came at Newberry, 42-12; at Rudyard, 32-6; and by forfeit at Pickford on Sept. 11, according to MaxPreps.

The two teams’ results against common opponents point toward St. Ignace. The Saints won 41-16 at Newberry and beat Rudyard by 8; Brimley lost to both. St. Ignace also beat Inland Lakes by 16 on the road, while Brimley lost 31-8 to the Bobcats at home.

Pickford has finished its league schedule at 5-0 and plays a nonleague game Friday at St. Mary Cathedral, its MaxPreps schedule shows.

Both teams close the regular season Oct. 23 outside the league. St. Ignace plays at Central Lake, and Brimley plays at Engadine.
