Bay City’s Historic Masonic Temple brings back Rocky Horror with live shadow cast Oct. 23–24 and Halloween
BAY CITY, Mich. — The Historic Masonic Temple is staging its eighth annual run of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with the temple’s own shadow cast, the Transylvania Twists, on Oct. 23, 24 and 31.
Shows are at 8 p.m. and midnight each of those nights at 700 N. Madison Ave., according to the temple’s event listings. Midnight performances are limited to ages 18 and older. The film screens with English captions.
Tickets for Oct. 23 and 24 are $15 and include a prop bag; midnight shows that weekend also include one drink ticket, the listings say. Halloween night is billed as the Rocky Horror Picture Show Halloween Spooktacular, with $35 tickets that include a prop tote, a deck of Transylvania Twists playing cards, a Rocky Horror button and access to a costume contest.
The Transylvania Twists, founded in 2019, give audiences a mix of the cult film and live shadow casting — a tradition in which performers act out the movie in front of the screen while viewers shout lines, throw props and dance the Time Warp, the temple says. Dressing up is welcome.
The temple calls the October Rocky Horror series a major fall fundraiser and one of its most popular events of the year. Tickets are on sale through the Historic Masonic Temple of Bay City’s website.
