Holland’s Outdoor Discovery Center hosts Treats & Trails on Saturday
HOLLAND, Mich. — The Outdoor Discovery Center’s annual Treats & Trails event is set for Saturday, Oct. 17, from 2 to 7 p.m., giving West Michigan families a costume-friendly walk with candy, wildlife encounters and live birds of prey on the ODC Network campus at 4214 56th St.
Organizers say children are encouraged to wear costumes as they work a roughly 1.2-mile route that is wheelchair-, stroller- and wagon-accessible. The Spoelhof Family Visitor Center, De Witt Birds of Prey Center and Eldean Family Nature Play Park stay open during the event; admission covers the candy trail, animal encounters, games, barrel rides and, while supplies last, hot chocolate, coffee and s’mores, according to the ODC’s event page.
Admission is $20 per family. No new guests are admitted after 6 p.m., and registrations are nonrefundable. Dogs are not allowed because birds of prey will be out for encounters. ODC asks visitors to bring their own candy bags and notes that allergy-friendly treats will be available, though it cannot guarantee every station is free of specific allergens.
All visitors must park at the free shuttle lot at Shekinah Revival Ministries, 1941 Washington Ave., and ride to the main entrance; the ODC lot is reserved for volunteers. Stroller, wagon and wheelchair drop-off is allowed at the main lot, after which drivers must park at the shuttle site. An accessible bus is available at the shuttle location. Families can preregister online or pay with cash or card on site; QR codes on the shuttle buses link to registration.
Pure Michigan’s event listing matches the Oct. 17 date and 2–7 p.m. window. FOX 17 also previewed the return of costumes, candy and birds of prey for the same Saturday. ODC’s main phone is (616) 393-9453; details are at outdoordiscovery.org.
