Kalamazoo Valley Museum plans a free Halloween Museum Mayhem on Oct. 31, with lab fun on Oct. 24 and 30
KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo Valley Museum will mark Halloween with Museum Mayhem, a free day of planetarium mini-shows, hands-on activities and colorful chemistry demonstrations, on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the museum’s special events calendar.
The museum bills it as a “not-so-spooky” day for all ages, and no registration is required. Family-friendly costumes are welcome, but masks and weapons are not, and adult caregivers have to stay with their children the whole time.
The downtown museum’s Innovation Lab adds its own seasonal series, Laboratory Mayhem, from noon to 3 p.m.: Skeletons and Scarecrows on Saturday, Oct. 24, then a Halloween Fun House on Friday, Oct. 30, and again on Halloween during Museum Mayhem.
The lab sessions are designed for ages 5 and up, free and open without registration, the calendar says. It also lists a short Museum Mayhem session in the galleries on Friday, Oct. 30, from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
The museum is at 230 N. Rose St. Check the calendar before you go, since times can change.
