Things to do in Lansing this weekend: Capital City Market’s Fall Festival and ‘Come From Away’ at Riverwalk
LANSING, Mich. — A downtown market’s fall party and a community-theater run of a Broadway musical anchor Lansing’s weekend, with Michigan State football in East Lansing on Saturday.
Fall Festival at Capital City Market. The market at 600 E. Michigan Ave. holds a Fall Festival from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. Its event listing promises pumpkin decorating with Greater Lansing Area Moms, donuts and apple cider, demonstrations by local vendors and music from Kenny Flowers. Michigan Public lists the festival as free.
‘Come From Away’ at Riverwalk Theatre. Riverwalk Theatre, 228 Museum Drive, stages the musical Oct. 15–18 and Oct. 22–25, the theater’s box office page says. Written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, the show tells the true story of the 38 planes and 6,579 passengers stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and the town that took them in. Jane Falion and Michele Booher-Purosky direct. Michigan Public lists tickets at $30. For show times and seats, call the box office at 517-482-5700 or visit riverwalktheatre.com.
Game day. Michigan State hosts Northwestern at noon Saturday at Spartan Stadium, according to Michigan Public, so plan for heavier traffic between downtown Lansing and East Lansing around the game.
