Ithaca, ranked No. 23 and still unbeaten, hosts Fowler in a non-conference game Friday
ITHACA, Mich. — Unbeaten Ithaca hosts Fowler on Friday night in a non-conference football game that matches two of Mid-Michigan’s stronger small-school teams.
Kickoff is 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Ithaca, according to MaxPreps. The Yellowjackets are 7-0 overall and 5-0 in the Tri-Valley Conference’s Blue Division, where they sit first. MaxPreps ranks them No. 23 in Michigan this week. They have outscored opponents 375-26 and won their last five league games by a combined 273-20, the schedule shows.
Fowler is 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the Central Michigan Athletic Conference, second in the league. The Eagles’ only loss was 34-28 at home to Pewamo-Westphalia on Oct. 2. They bounced back with a 53-0 win at Bath on Oct. 9. MaxPreps ranks Fowler No. 60 in the state.
The game does not count in either team’s conference standings. Ithaca still has a league rivalry next: the Yellowjackets visit Beal City, also 7-0 and ranked No. 20 by MaxPreps, on Oct. 23. Fowler finishes the regular season at McBain the same night.
Ithaca’s path to 7-0 included shutouts of Cabrini, Carrollton and Hemlock and a 63-7 win over Nouvel Catholic Central. Fowler opened with wins over Merrill and Lake City, then won four of its first five league games before the Pewamo-Westphalia loss.
