Harrison ends Farwell’s three-game streak with a 54-32 win in Clare County
FARWELL, Mich. — Harrison carried the better record into Friday night’s game at Farwell, on Oct. 9. The Eagles carried the hotter defense.
The Hornets are 5-1 and 2-1 in Jack Pine Conference play, according to MaxPreps. Farwell is 4-2 and 3-1, second in the league’s Division 2 standings, a half-game ahead of Harrison and Beaverton. The game was played at the Farwell Area Schools Athletic Complex, according to the GoFan ticket listing.
Harrison has scored 238 points in six games, nearly 40 a game, and allowed 85. It opened with five straight wins, including 64-0 over Pinconning and 46-14 over St. Louis on Sept. 25, before losing 42-14 at Meridian on Oct. 2.
Farwell has won three in a row by a combined 120-8: 58-0 at Pinconning, 40-8 over Beaverton and 22-0 over St. Louis last week. The Eagles have allowed 46 points all season. Both of their losses were close, 17-14 at Lakeview and 7-0 at Meridian.
That gives the two teams three common opponents. Both beat Pinconning and St. Louis easily, and both lost to Meridian, Farwell by a touchdown and Harrison by four.
Harrison has owned the series. The Hornets beat Farwell 38-22 last season and have won 14 of the 16 meetings since 2004, according to Michigan Prep Football’s records.
Both teams finish the regular season Oct. 23. Harrison is home against Evart, and Farwell plays Roscommon, according to MaxPreps.
