MIDLAND, Mich. — Midland’s calendar for the next several days stretches from a free afternoon lecture on opera to pumpkin carving at the public library and a weekly walk that starts at the Tridge.

Here is what is on the official calendars so far.

George Fee Lecture, Sunday, Oct. 18: Dr. George Fee presents “Opera As A Window Into the 18th Century” at 1:30 p.m. in the Midland Center for the Arts Community Room, 1801 W. St. Andrews Road. The Center says the talk is free but tickets are required through its box office. The program is funded in part by Michigan Humanities and the Michigan Arts and Culture Council.

Lord of the Gourd Pumpkin Carving, Monday, Oct. 19: Patrick Harrison demonstrates pumpkin carving in the Orchard Room at the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library, 1710 W. St. Andrews Road, from 4 to 7 p.m. The library says all ages are welcome, no registration is required, and visitors can come up to the table to ask questions.

Fall Colors Golf Cart Tour, Tuesday, Oct. 20: Chippewa Nature Center lists a free Fall Colors Golf Cart Tour from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at 400 S. Badour Road, for ages 9 and older (under 18 with an adult). As of Wednesday evening the listing showed the session full; CNC asks people who cannot attend to cancel so spots can open, and its phone number is 989-631-0830.

Step Into Fall walk, Wednesday, Oct. 21: Midland Parks & Recreation’s free drop-in 2-mile walk starts and ends at the Tridge, 100 Wyman St., at 5:30 p.m. Staff take registration on site. The city says there will be one grand prize drawing at the end of the season, and the winner need not be present.

Times can change, so check the listings before you go.
