Things to do in Midland this weekend: Hocus Pocus outdoors, a fall market and a ski swap
MIDLAND, Mich. — Midland’s Saturday calendar stacks a free outdoor movie, a makers market at the fairgrounds and a morning ski-and-board swap, giving visitors three stops without leaving town.
Halloween Movie in the Park: Midland Parks and Recreation screens “Hocus Pocus” (1993) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Stratford Woods Park, 3922 E. Ashman St., the city’s event page says. The showing is free. Viewers can watch from cars and listen on an FM transmitter, or bring blankets and chairs for the parking lot. Food trucks are planned; the city asks people to arrive early. Because of the outdoor screen, the event is weather-dependent. If weather forces a move, the backup is the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library auditorium. Updates are listed on RainoutLine.com or at 989-399-0506.
Rebel Fall Market: The market moves to the Midland County Fairgrounds, 6905 Eastman Ave., for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16–17, according to organizer The Unwritten Chapter Bookshop. Friday is listed as a VIP night from 5 to 8 p.m.; Saturday runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The listing describes vintage finds, handmade goods, local makers and food. Tickets are sold through the organizer’s Square links on the event page; the listing does not post walk-up prices in the text.
Ski Swap: Greater Midland’s Ski Swap runs 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Greater Midland, the community center’s calendar says. Organizers invite people to sell used skis, snowboards and gear and to shop for winter equipment. Confirm hours and drop-off rules with Greater Midland at 989-923-4622 or greatermidland.org before you haul a carload of boots.
