Isabella County updates its 911 plan after a state review and replaces a 1992 emergency management policy
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The Isabella County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 6 approved an updated county 911 plan after a state compliance review, Central Michigan Life reported.
The update removes two entries from the plan’s list of emergency agencies: the Michigan Department of Transportation’s Motor Carrier division and the Sherman Township Marshal, according to CM Life. The marshal’s office is no longer operating; the Morning Sun reported in 2016 that the longtime marshal was retiring.
Emergency management. Commissioners also adopted a new emergency management program, replacing a policy dating to 1992. The program sets a countywide framework for disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery, CM Life reported.
Other business. The board approved $1,473,261.19 in September invoices and a lease for Michigan Works! in Alma running from Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027, according to the student newspaper.
Why it matters. County 911 plans lay out which agencies are dispatched and how calls are routed, and the state reviews them to make sure they are current.
