MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan takes a three-game losing streak to Detroit this week for a Wednesday night game against Eastern Michigan at Ford Field, and the Chippewas will do it without the receiver who just had the best game of his career.

Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, and the game is on ESPN2. The date was already circled in our October look at CMU’s stretch run. It is the first of two straight years of “Motor City MACtion” at Ford Field, with Eastern Michigan the home team this year and CMU next year, according to CMU. Central Michigan is 3-5 and 1-3 in the Mid-American Conference. Eastern Michigan is 4-5 and 3-2.

Lewis suspended after OWI arrest

Wide receiver Langston Lewis, 22, was arrested by Michigan State Police on Oct. 30 and booked on a charge of operating while intoxicated, WNEM reported, citing jail records. He posted a $7,000 bond and is due in court Nov. 17. The charge is an accusation, not a conviction.

“We are aware of the incident last night involving Langston Lewis. Lewis has been suspended from all team activities for a violation of team rules,” coach Matt Drinkall said in a statement.

Lewis caught 10 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown in last Saturday’s 28-27 home loss to Miami (Ohio), according to CMU’s game notes. It was the first 150-yard receiving game by a Chippewa in 148 games, since Titus Davis in 2014.

Where CMU stands

Quarterback Jadyn Glasser made his first start of the season against Miami in place of the injured Angel Flores and set career highs with 18 completions in 31 attempts for 221 yards. Miami scored the winning touchdown with 1:41 left. Before that came a 31-14 loss at Ohio and a 21-14 home loss to Western Michigan, a game CMU nearly rallied to tie.

CMU’s school notes point out that its five losses came against teams with a combined 29-9 record, including No. 1 Miami (Florida). In all 10 wins under Drinkall, now in his second season, the Chippewas have held opponents under 20 points and have never lost the turnover battle. Defensive back Justin Taylor leads the team with three interceptions, and Flores, when healthy, has run for 618 yards.

The rivalry

This is the 104th meeting between the schools since 1902 and the 55th season in a row they have played, the longest-running series in the MAC. CMU leads it 64-32-6, won last year’s game 24-13 in Mount Pleasant and has won five of the last seven. The only other time they met at Ford Field, on Nov. 6, 2004, Eastern Michigan won 61-58 in four overtimes.

Eastern Michigan is coached by Chris Creighton, in his 13th season. A CMU win would end both its three-game skid and a three-game losing streak at Ford Field, where the Chippewas are 5-6 all time.
