Unbeaten Swan Valley hosts Frankenmuth Friday with the TVC Red title on the line
SAGINAW, Mich. — The Tri-Valley Conference Red football title will be settled on the field Friday, when unbeaten Swan Valley hosts Frankenmuth, the only other team without a league loss.
Both teams handled their Week 7 assignments with room to spare. Swan Valley ran past Bridgeport 62-8 on Oct. 9 to improve to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the league, according to MLive. Frankenmuth won 41-14 at Bay City John Glenn and is 6-1 overall.
The Vikings spread the ball around. Quarterback Keller Bedford completed 8 of 11 passes for 167 yards and five touchdowns, and nine different players scored, MLive reported.
Frankenmuth leaned on one player. Quarterback Noah Main ran 13 times for 135 yards and four touchdowns and completed 10 of 13 passes for 190 yards and two more scores, accounting for all six Eagles touchdowns. MLive named him the Saginaw-area Friday Night Hero for Week 7. Coach Phil Martin told MLive that Main has “a never-quit attitude.”
Swan Valley has been the area’s steadiest program this fall, with lopsided wins over Essexville Garber and Bridgeport in back-to-back weeks. Friday’s winner takes the conference crown into the final week of the regular season and the playoffs that follow.
Kickoff details are posted on the schools’ athletic schedules; Week 8 games are set for Friday, Oct. 16.
