Zoo Boo returns to the Saginaw Children’s Zoo on October weekends
SAGINAW — Zoo Boo is back at the Saginaw Children’s Zoo, where the Halloween event will run on weekends throughout October, WNEM reported Monday.
Organizers describe it as “merry not scary.” WNEM reported that the event works like a Halloween scavenger hunt through the zoo, with stops for treats, activities and other surprises.
Zoo Boo is free for zoo members and $13 a person for everyone else, according to WNEM and the zoo’s event page.
Families are invited to come in costume, and children can wander the zoo between stops, the station reported.
“This is rehearsal for October 31st, and it’s a great family event,” said Bridget Staffileno, vice president of brand engagement for Jolt Credit Union, according to WNEM. “You see parents and kids. You see grandparents coming sometimes, and other caregivers bringing littles, and there isn’t anything like it.”
“Parents are super excited, really proud, because there’s handmade outfits and costumes,” Staffileno said.
Also in Saginaw this month, the Saginaw Fire Department will hold its annual awards ceremony and open house at 10 a.m. Oct. 13 at department headquarters. The ceremony recognizes citizens, firefighters and other first responders and honors firefighters who died in service to the city, Fire Chief Brandon Hausbeck said. Station tours and refreshments will follow, WNEM reported.
