NORTHPORT, Mich. — Families headed to the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula can book evening ghost tours at the Grand Traverse Lighthouse this weekend as the museum’s October fundraiser continues.

The lighthouse lists guided ghost tours on Oct. 16, 17, 23 and 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost is $15 per person, according to the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum. Daytime hours add kids’ activities and crafts, outdoor decorations and trick-or-treating, plus a pop-up chili lunch while it lasts.

The light sits inside Leelanau State Park at 15500 N. Lighthouse Point Road. A Michigan state park pass is required to enter the park, the museum notes. The museum’s contact line is (231) 386-7195 for weather or schedule questions before a long drive up M-22.

October lake wind can scrub outdoor plans with little notice. Confirm the night you want before you leave Traverse City or Northport, and dress for a cold walk between the parking area and the 1858 light.
