Ann Arbor Huron at Monroe: River Rats try to end a three-game skid against a Trojans team unbeaten at home
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Ann Arbor Huron goes to Monroe on Friday night trying to stop a three-game losing streak, against a Trojans team that has not lost at home this season.
Kickoff for the Southeastern Conference Red game is 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Monroe High School, according to MaxPreps schedules for both schools.
Huron (2-5, 1-4) has been shut out in its last two games, 61-0 at Saline on Oct. 2 and 35-0 at home against Bedford on Oct. 8. Before that, the River Rats lost 34-20 at home to crosstown Pioneer. Their only league win came Sept. 18, 28-10 at Skyline, MaxPreps shows.
Both of Huron’s wins have come on the road. The River Rats are 0-4 at home and 2-1 away.
Monroe (3-4, 2-3) is the opposite. The Trojans are 3-0 at home and 0-4 on the road, and they have won two straight at home, 35-24 over Jackson on Oct. 2 and 49-35 over Pioneer on Oct. 9, according to MaxPreps.
The teams share five league opponents, and Monroe has the better result against every one. Monroe beat Pioneer by 14 points; Huron lost to the Panthers by 14. Both beat Skyline, Monroe 37-6 and Huron 28-10. Dexter beat Monroe 21-7 and Huron 35-6. Saline won 42-6 over Monroe and 61-0 over Huron. Bedford beat Monroe 24-7 and Huron 35-0.
The season totals show the gap, too. Monroe has scored 169 points and allowed 192. Huron has scored 76 and allowed 209.
Huron can finish no better than 4-5. Monroe can still reach 5-4 by winning its last two games.
Both teams close the regular season at home Oct. 23 against nonleague opponents. Huron hosts Stoney Creek, and Monroe hosts Rochester, MaxPreps shows.
