Things to do in Battle Creek Oct. 23–25: Spooky Spectacular at Kellogg Arena, Turkeyville’s last haunted weekend and Anne of Green Gables
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The weekend before Halloween brings a three-day gymnastics meet to Kellogg Arena, the last haunted weekend at Cornwell’s Turkeyville in Marshall, and a mix of free family trunk-or-treats and paid evening shows downtown.
Admission at the arena and Turkeyville is paid. The Link and VA trunk-or-treats on Saturday afternoon are free. Check organizers for weather and last-minute schedule changes.
Friday through Sunday, Oct. 23–25 — Spooky Spectacular. The Michigan chapter of the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges hosts its Halloween-themed Spooky Spectacular at Kellogg Arena, 1 McCamly Square, from 2 p.m. Friday through 5 p.m. Sunday, according to the arena’s event page. Kellogg Arena lists adult tickets at $20, military, senior and children ages 6–18 at $15, and a weekend pass at $25 for all ages. Tickets are sold through the arena; the listing says there are no refunds or exchanges and that each ticket scans once. The host hotel is the DoubleTree by Hilton Battle Creek. Session times are on the MI NAWGJ event site.
Friday and Saturday nights — Anne of Green Gables. A stage production of “Anne of Green Gables” is listed for 7 p.m. Oct. 23 and 24 at Downtown Church in Battle Creek, with tickets previously advertised at $10, Cereal City Buzz reported. Confirm showtimes and tickets with the presenter before you go.
Saturday and Sunday — Turkeyville’s last haunted weekend. Cornwell’s Turkeyville, 18935 15½ Mile Road in Marshall, runs its Haunted Adventure for the final weekend of the season Oct. 24–25. The wristband covers a creepy hayride, haunted barn, corn maze and spooky train ride, plus homemade donuts, cider and pumpkins. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday (wristbands sold until 5 p.m.) and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (wristbands until 3 p.m.). Admission is $15 a person, or $17 with a pumpkin, the venue says. Costumes are welcome.
Saturday afternoon — free trunk-or-treats. The Link Community Event Center and Taste of the Creek host a free trunk-or-treat from 1 p.m. until supplies last at 311 W. Michigan Ave. downtown; organizers are still seeking donations and volunteers. The same hours, the Battle Creek VA Medical Center offers a free trunk-or-treat for Veterans and staff in Parking Lot A at 5500 Armstrong Road. Marshall’s Cauldron Crawl also returns Saturday among participating downtown businesses.
Saturday night — Hallow’s Eve Hell. Michigan Metal Fest’s Hallow’s Eve Hell starts at 6 p.m. at The Music Factory, 191 Angell St., with Nail Bite, Approaching Autumn, Magg Dylan, Fault of the People and Ghidora. General admission is listed at $21.20 including tax. The show includes a costume contest with $300 for first place and a toiletry drive for Love Thy Neighbor Ministry.
