Bay City Central blanks Saginaw United 30-0 for first shutout since 2020
BAY CITY, Mich. — Bay City Central’s defense finally got the shutout it had been chasing. The Wolves beat Saginaw United 30-0 on homecoming Friday at Engel Stadium, their first blank sheet since 2020, according to MLive’s Bay City Week 6 coverage.
Central improved to 2-4 and matched its highest win total since 2019, MLive reported. Navir Cleveland rushed for 116 yards and scored three touchdowns — one on the ground, one through the air and one on a pick-six — while Jayvin Campbell led the defense with 10 tackles.
The Wolves led only 8-0 entering the fourth quarter before pouring on 22 points. MLive’s county-wide recap also noted three Bay County shutouts on the night, with Central’s the headline at Engel.
Bay City Western dropped a 42-20 decision to No. 8 Mount Pleasant, extending a long skid against the Oilers. Mount Pleasant moved to 6-0 and 4-0 in the Saginaw Valley League North, MLive and the MHSAA Week 6 review both noted as Mount Pleasant chased a repeat league title.
