BAY CITY, Mich. — Two Bay County football teams with matching 3-4 records go after a fourth win Friday night. Bay City John Glenn plays a Tri-Valley Conference Red game at Alma, and Essexville Garber is home against Caro. Both games start at 7 p.m., according to MaxPreps schedules.

Glenn’s record undersells its scoring. The Bobcats have outscored opponents 196-101, MaxPreps shows, though 140 of those points came in a 77-0 win at St. Clair Shores South Lake and a 63-0 win at Bridgeport. Their four losses include a 41-14 home loss to Frankenmuth last week. Glenn is 2-3 in league play.

Alma is 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the league after a 42-18 nonleague loss at Flint Powers Catholic last week. The Panthers have allowed 199 points. Common opponents send mixed signals. Glenn beat Garber 35-7 on Sept. 3, and Alma lost to the Dukes 16-14 on Sept. 18. But Alma won 25-21 at Freeland on Oct. 2, two weeks after Glenn lost 10-7 at home to the Falcons.

In Essexville: Garber has lost two straight, to Swan Valley 42-14 and at Freeland 28-9. The Dukes are 2-4 in the TVC Red. Caro, from the Big Thumb Conference, won its first three games and has lost four in a row since, including a 7-0 home loss to Cass City on Oct. 2 and a 36-14 defeat at Ubly last week.

Both programs beat Bridgeport easily. Garber won 58-0 there on Sept. 25. Caro opened its season with a 64-6 home win over the Bearcats.

Next week: Glenn closes the regular season at home against Mount Pleasant on Oct. 23. Garber travels to Owosso the same night.
