BJ’s Pumpkin Farm said 2025 would be its last fall. It reopened in Temperance anyway, and a free family fest follows Oct. 17.

Rows of orange pumpkins lie in a harvested field along a dirt lane, with a line of trees in fall color beyond.

TEMPERANCE, Mich. — BJ’s Pumpkin Farm told customers that 2025 would be its final season. This fall it is open again, a little smaller and on a new schedule, because customers asked, the farm says on its website.

The farm, at 9777 Secor Road at the corner of Erie Road, opened for the season Sept. 18. It is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Donuts, cider, slushies, the playground and games are back, the farm says, along with mums, pumpkins, heirloom pumpkins, corn stalks and squash on a smaller scale than in past years. New this year are crafts in the barn. Donut orders of any size can be placed by phone at 734-347-1791.

The Search & Find Corn Maze hides 75 items and one mystery item among the stalks. The farm says the goal is to find the items, not to solve a path. Admission is $6 for ages 6 and up and $4 for ages 3 to 5, and children 2 and under get in free. One paid trip covers return visits for the rest of the season, and the farm says the maze is stroller friendly. Groups can arrange weekday visits by calling ahead.

A week from Saturday, on Oct. 17, Bedford Alliance Church, 8645 Jackman Road, holds its Fall Family Fest from 1 to 4 p.m. Every activity is free, according to the church: pony and hay rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses, an inflatable wrecking ball, a bungee run, a climbing wall, a zip line and carnival games.

Food trucks will sell elephant ears from Amie Jo’s and lemonade, soft pretzels, nachos and hot dogs from Squeeze the Day Lemonade. No registration is needed and families can come and go, but it is not a drop-off event; a parent or responsible adult has to stay. Visitors should use the parking lots flanking the church, since the area behind it will be closed off for the event.

The fest is outdoors, and the church says it will post any weather changes on its website and social media pages.
