Highland cows and hayrides in downtown Hudsonville, then a library Trunk or Treat in Jenison
JENISON, Mich. — Two free family outings bracket the middle of October on the Georgetown Township side of Ottawa County, one already past in downtown Hudsonville and one still ahead at the township library in Jenison.
The first was Urban HayDay, which filled Harvey Street in downtown Hudsonville from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10. The Hudsonville Area Chamber of Commerce listed hayrides, pony rides, a petting zoo, barrel train rides, an inflatable corn maze, mini golf and a climbing wall.
Highland cows were on hand from 10 a.m. to noon. Candy drops from a pumpkin started at 10:30 a.m. and repeated every half hour, and Ohana Dance performed at 11 a.m. and noon. Cider and doughnuts were free while they lasted. Pumpkin painting cost $1, cash or Venmo.
Downtown restaurants stayed open, and food vendors included Pronto Pups, Electric Hero, Pizza Parliament and Brood Dough + Co. Adults could carry drinks from participating businesses within the city’s social district. The chamber said free parking was a short walk away, and the hayrides doubled as a shuttle from one end of the event to the other. Restrooms were at Terra Square, with portable units on Plaza Avenue.
Two weeks later, on Friday, Oct. 23, the Georgetown Township Public Library at 1525 Baldwin St. in Jenison holds its Fall Fest from 6 to 8 p.m. with neighboring Ridgewood CRC. The evening includes games, crafts, pumpkin decorating and the library’s annual Trunk or Treat.
The library asks visitors to park next door at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. The event is built for children with their parents, and the library says children may not be dropped off. It also warns that it cannot rule out tree nuts, soy or other allergens in the food it serves.
Updated Oct. 13, 2026: Urban HayDay took place Oct. 10. This guide was published before them, and its schedule language has been changed to the past tense. The library Fall Fest and Trunk or Treat remain scheduled for Oct. 23.
Updated Oct. 13, 2026: The summary was updated because some of the events listed have already taken place.
