Capri Italian Bakery on Greenfield Road will close Oct. 31 after 53 years as its owners retire
DEARBORN, Mich. — Capri Italian Bakery, a Dearborn fixture on Greenfield Road for more than half a century, will close for good Saturday, Oct. 31.
Owners John and Ronda Errigo are retiring after 53 years, according to the Detroit Free Press and Patch. The bakery at 4832 Greenfield Road opened in 1973.
Capri built its following on pepperoni rolls, meatball subs, pizza and cannoli. The owners announced the closing in early October.
Until the last day, the bakery is open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, according to published reports. Popular items can sell out early, so plan to go in the morning. Hours on the final Saturday may be shorter; call ahead.
The Dearborn City Council put a resolution on its Oct. 20 agenda thanking the Errigos "for the many years of dedication and memories" and wishing them "a healthy and happy retirement."
