Flint Halloween weekend: free Shocktober movies, an inclusive Halloween at UM-Flint and a scare-free skate
FLINT — Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and Flint’s weekend lineup runs from horror classics on the big screen to an indoor trick-or-treat built for kids with disabilities, according to Explore Flint & Genesee, the county’s visitors bureau.
Most of the action is Friday, Oct. 30. Here is what’s on.
Shocktober movies, Friday. The New Paths-Pius Event Center is showing the horror film “Halloween” on Friday, followed later in the evening by “The Exorcist,” with vendors and a live concert by the band Lords of October, the bureau says.
Inclusive Halloween at UM-Flint, Friday. The University of Michigan-Flint’s Riverfront Conference Center hosts a free event that opens with a sensory-friendly hour for people with disabilities and their immediate families, then an open session for all ages and abilities. Plans include indoor trick-or-treating, adaptive games, therapy dogs and a calm sensory room. Pre-registration is required.
Live music, Friday. Churchill’s hosts a free album release party and concert for indie artist Mister Tim. At Flint Local 432, a Devil’s Night show asks guests to come in costume, browse independent zines and donate to Genesee County Mutual Aid.
Pro MMA, Friday. The Dort Financial Center hosts WXC 102 – Devil’s Night, a professional mixed martial arts card.
A scare-free Saturday. For families who would rather skip the ghouls on Halloween night, Rollhaven Skate & Fun Center holds a Christian Music Nite Un-Halloween Skate on Saturday, Oct. 31.
Many bars and clubs will also run Halloween-themed nights, the bureau notes. Check each venue for start times, ticket prices and age limits before heading out, since the bureau’s list does not include them.
