West Michigan: High school football playoff scores, district semifinals
Grandville, 4-5 in the regular season, knocked off unbeaten Howell 38-30, and Portage Central beat Hudsonville 21-14 to set up a Division 1 district final between the two, as the MHSAA playoffs opened Friday in West Michigan. Ludington beat Fruitport 19-15 on a touchdown pass with 16 seconds left to reach its first district final, and Muskegon Mona Shores rallied from 21-7 down to beat Traverse City Central 49-42, MLive reported.
Every score below is a final listed the same way by MaxPreps’ MHSAA brackets and at least one other outlet, and no outlet we checked (the Associated Press scoreboard, High School On SI, MLive and local TV and radio) reported it differently. Where those outlets disagreed, the game is left out and named at the end. Each heading links to that community’s Mitten Daily page, and “Next” is the next-round game (Nov. 6–7) from the MaxPreps brackets.

Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s Division 5 game with Comstock Park was not played Friday. A Kent County judge ordered the MHSAA to let it go ahead by Tuesday, Nov. 3, after the association removed the Cougars over an ineligible transfer.
Our earlier story on that court order, “Judge puts Grand Rapids Catholic Central back in the football playoffs,” has the details.
Left out because published finals disagree: Caledonia–East Lansing, Forest Hills Eastern–Big Rapids, Berrien Springs–Lake Odessa Lakewood, Hopkins–Kalamazoo Hackett, Ravenna–Cassopolis and, in 8-player, Colon–Bridgman and Grand Rapids Sacred Heart–Marion. In Ravenna–Cassopolis, Colon–Bridgman and Sacred Heart–Marion, outlets even disagreed on the winner.
