JACKSON, Mich. — Jackson College’s Potter Center packs three very different nights into the next two weeks: a Flint rock band from the 1970s on Saturday, the Detroit Lions Drumline with a dozen area high school drumlines on Nov. 5, and a Grand Ole Opry country star on Nov. 7.

All three are at the Potter Center on the college’s central campus, 2111 Emmons Road. Tickets are sold online with added fees, by phone at 517-796-8600, or at the Potter Center ticket office, which is open weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and one hour before each show. The college says it offers no refunds or exchanges.

Grand Funk Railroad, Saturday, Oct. 24, 7 p.m. The band from Flint became one of the top-selling American rock groups of the 1970s with “We’re an American Band” and “Some Kind of Wonderful,” the Potter Center’s event page says. Seats are $70 in Section A, $65 in Section B and $35 in Section C.

Percussion Concussion, Thursday, Nov. 5, 7:15 to 10 p.m. The Detroit Lions Drumline runs pre-show clinics for more than 12 high school drumlines and closes the night in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall, Jackson College said in an Oct. 22 announcement. Scheduled school drumlines include Jackson High, Northwest, Western, Michigan Center, Columbia Central, Springport, Napoleon, Lumen Christi, Addison, The George Crockett Academy and Mason. Tickets are $15 each or two for $25 from the box office or at the door, and event T-shirts sell for the same price. This year’s accent color is electric pink, the event listing says.

The college also uses the night to recruit for its own ensembles, including the Jazzy Jets, the Community Concert Band, Vocal Point and the JC Drumline, which take new members at any time.

Lauren Alaina, Saturday, Nov. 7, 7 p.m. The Opry member’s hits include “Road Less Traveled,” “What Ifs” with Kane Brown and “One Beer” with Hardy and Devin Dawson. General seats are $61, $51 and $31 by section. Fifty VIP packages add $99 to a Section A seat for a meet-and-greet, photo, pre-show Q&A and early entry, and a $50 add-on in Section B includes a postcard set and VIP laminate, according to the college.

What follows. The season continues with Celtic Angels Christmas on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m., and the Jackson College theater department’s “Little Shop of Horrors” Dec. 4-6, according to the Potter Center ticket page.

How to save. Buying tickets to at least three shows earns a 10% discount, and children 12 and under get $5 off B and C section seats for some family shows, including Celtic Angels Christmas, when bought with an adult ticket. Discounts are not available online; call the ticket office to get them. Orders placed within seven days of a show are held at will call.

For a night out in Jackson, Saturday’s Grand Funk show is the soonest, and Percussion Concussion is the cheapest ticket of the three and a chance to see local students on a big stage.
