Pewamo-Westphalia outlasts Fowler 34-28 in double overtime thriller
MID-MICHIGAN — Pewamo-Westphalia and Fowler delivered the kind of rivalry game Mid-Michigan expects — and then needed two overtimes to settle it. The Pirates won 34-28, the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Week 6 headline for the region.
Pewamo-Westphalia improved to 6-0 and clinched at least a share of the league championship, MHSAA.com reported. It was the Pirates’ first back-to-back wins over Fowler since 2020 and 2021. Fowler fell to 5-1 and needed help from Saranac to keep a share-title path alive.
The Lansing State Journal listed the same 34-28 (2OT) final on its Greater Lansing Week 6 scoreboard. WLNS coverage was cited by MHSAA.com for additional game detail.
Elsewhere in the broader Mid-Michigan footprint, MHSAA.com noted Mount Pleasant’s continued Saginaw Valley League North lead and Midland Dow’s 52-24 win over Traverse City West, which dealt the Titans their first league loss.
Updated Oct. 12, 2026: That help did not come. Pewamo-Westphalia won 38-12 at Saranac on Oct. 9, MaxPreps results show, and is 7-0 and 4-0 in the CMAC. Fowler beat Bath 53-0 and is 6-1. Records above are as of the week of the game.
