MUSKEGON, Mich. — The Muskegon Museum of Art’s MiniARTure Golf returns Thursday, Oct. 29, with a nine-hole course built inside the museum and inspired by paintings and sculpture from its permanent collection. It runs through April 11, 2027.

The museum calls the course fully playable, and guests of all ages are welcome. Clubs and balls are provided, and players can walk the galleries before or after a round.

Prices. Admission to MiniARTure Golf is $17 for adults, $13 for seniors and $5 for children. Museum members golf free, and members get an exclusive opening night from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, the day before the public opening. Groups can also book a private golf night, according to the museum.

The holes. Each hole is based on a work in the museum’s collection. In order of play, they are “Painter of a Bird’s Eye View” by Roger Brown, “Steel Mill Homes” by Charles Burchfield, “Vieille Rue, Montmarte” by Lois Mailou Jones, “S 1-11” by Caroline Lee, “Anubus” by Gabrielle Mayer, “Fastball” by Albert W. Wein, “Gunnel Under” by Montague Dawson, “Return from the Chase” by Amadeo Souza-Cardoso and “In Golden Light” by Paul Doughtry.

That list runs from a Chicago Imagist (Brown) to an American watercolorist known for his industrial and small-town scenes (Burchfield), a Harlem Renaissance-era painter who worked in Paris (Jones) and a British painter of sailing ships (Dawson), so a family round doubles as a quick tour of the collection.

Win a putter. Every scorecard is also an entry in a drawing. Write your name and email on the back and drop it in the box after the ninth hole. When the course closes in April, the museum will draw three winners for a laser-engraved Muskegon Museum of Art putter and museum-branded Titleist golf balls. No purchase is necessary.

Getting there. The course is in the Van Kampen Molinari Foundation Gallery on Level 1. The museum asks visitors to use the entrance at 315 W. Clay Ave. for GPS and navigation; its mailing address is 296 W. Webster Ave. Call 231-720-2570 or check the museum’s website for hours before you go, especially around holidays.
