Things to do in Muskegon Oct. 23-25: a free Fire Garden Night at Muskegon Luge, a Pigeon Hill trunk-or-treat and Colton Dixon at the Frauenthal
MUSKEGON, Mich. — Muskegon’s last weekend before Halloween week pairs a free night of live music and bonfires at Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park with a free brewery trunk-or-treat, a Christian concert at the Frauenthal Theater and free tours of the Hackley and Hume homes and two other historic sites for county residents.
Here is what is on the calendar for Friday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Oct. 25.
Colton Dixon and Micah Tyler, Friday, Oct. 23, 7 p.m. Unity Christian Events brings the two singers to the Frauenthal Theater, 425 W. Western Ave., for what the theater’s listing calls a night of Christian music “filled with energy, encouragement, and songs that point us back to faith.” Doors open at 6:30 p.m. VIP ticket holders get in at 5:30 p.m. and a question-and-answer session at 5:45 p.m. The Frauenthal box office is at 231-727-8001.
Hike the Lights, every night, dusk to 10 p.m. More than three miles of trails are lit up at Muskegon Luge, 462 Scenic Drive, and walking them is free, with no tickets or registration, according to the park and the White Lake Area Chamber & Visitors Bureau. Dogs are welcome on a six-foot leash, and trail maps are at the trailhead. The park says the lights stay on every day until its winter season begins.
Fire Garden Night, Saturday, Oct. 24, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The second of the park’s three free Fire Garden Nights falls on the last weekend of its fall adventure season. Zip line, wheel luge, archery, rock climbing and Trail Quest run on regular paid admission from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 25, the park says. On Saturday, an extra zip line session runs from 5 to 6:15 p.m. at $35 a ride, sold on site only. At 6:15 p.m., staff lead a free hike to the Blockhouse, and from 7 to 10 p.m. local musicians play the Howmet Stage in the Fire Garden, with no entry fee. Drinks available include Luge State of Mind, a lager Pigeon Hill Brewing Company made for the park, along with cider, seltzer, wine, nonalcoholic drinks and sweet treats. The last Fire Garden Night is Nov. 14.
Trunk or Treat at Pigeon Hill Brewing, Saturday, Oct. 24, noon to 2 p.m. Local families and businesses will decorate their trunks and hand out candy in the lot at Pigeon Hill’s 895 Fourth St. location, the brewery says. It is free, and costumes are encouraged. Pigeon Hill also hosts the Flannel Season Comedy Tour that night from 7 to 9:30 p.m., with tickets listed at $12 to $20, and unofficial watch parties Friday and Saturday nights for the Muskegon Lumberjacks, who are on the road at the Lincoln Stars.
Free historic site tours, Sunday, Oct. 25, 1 to 4 p.m. Muskegon County residents can tour the Hackley and Hume Historic Site, 484 W. Webster Ave., the Fire Barn Museum and the Scolnik House of the Depression Era for free before the sites close for the season, the Lakeshore Museum Center says. The museum calls the free October weekends a thank-you to residents who support its millage. No registration is needed, and the last tour leaves at 4 p.m. Visitors from outside the county pay $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $5 for children 2 to 12.
