Things to do in Port Huron this weekend: HOPStoberfest, a lighthouse ghost hunt and a Witches Walk
PORT HURON, Mich. — Port Huron’s Halloween weekend leans toward grown-ups, with a museum beer tasting Friday, a late-night ghost hunt at Michigan’s oldest surviving lighthouse Saturday and a metaphysical vendor walk downtown Sunday.
HOPStoberfest. Port Huron Museums holds its annual beer-tasting fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at the Carnegie Museum, 1115 Sixth St. Guests taste craft beers from Michigan breweries among the exhibits, the museums say, with live music from The Blitztones, food trucks, Oktoberfest and yard games, and photo ops. General admission is $30 and $25 for museum members, each with six drink tickets. A $20 designated-driver ticket includes everything but alcohol. Everyone must be 21 or older, and sales are final. Money raised supports the museums’ four sites and their collections.
Paranormal night at Fort Gratiot Light. Detroit Rock City Paranormal returns to lead an investigation at Fort Gratiot Light Station, 2802 Omar St., from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Oct. 17. The lighthouse dates to 1829. The event is for adults 18 and older; tickets are $20 for museum members and $25 for the public, with prepayment required and no refunds, the museums say. Guests can bring their own equipment but don’t need to. The museums bill the night as entertainment.
Witches Walk. A New Moon 22 hosts its first Witches Walk downtown from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. The organizer’s listing promises more than 40 vendors of handmade goods, psychic medium and tarot readers, astrology and reiki, plus a witch costume contest, raffles and goodie bags. Check in at A New Moon 22 / Just For You for a bag of vendor discounts and the day’s itinerary. A TownBuzz listing drawn from the city’s calendar shows the walk as free.
For kids. Families can still catch the free Trucks & Treats on McMorran Boulevard from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, with emergency vehicles, construction equipment and candy for costumed kids. Quiet hours run from 3 to 4 p.m., the city says.
