Things to do in Saginaw this weekend: Tracy Lawrence, Spirit hockey and a Brady Hill cemetery walk
SAGINAW, Mich. — Saginaw’s weekend runs from a Friday homecoming parade to a country show, two Spirit home games and a free cemetery walk led by the Castle Museum’s chief historian.
Saginaw United’s homecoming parade rolls 5 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, from Water Street to Genesee Avenue to Niagara Street, ending at Saginaw United High School, according to the city’s calendar. The listed starting point is 100 S. Water St.
At 7:30 p.m. the same night, Tracy Lawrence brings his No Alibis Tour to the Dow Event Center’s Applied Innovation Theatre. The venue says the show celebrates a catalog that includes 18 No. 1 hits and tracks from his Out Here In It EP. Tickets are sold through Ticketmaster and the Dow box office, open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays. A $25 Garden premium add-on for ages 21 and up includes early entry, snacks and drink tickets; a main-event ticket is required.
The Saginaw Spirit host the Sarnia Sting at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Dow Event Center Arena. Advance tickets listed by Go Great Lakes Bay start at $22 for adults, $20 for students and seniors and $19 for children ages 3 to 12. Tickets are also sold at the Spirit store on State Street, by phone at (989) 497-7747, at the Dow box office and on Ticketmaster.
Sunday’s Spirit game against the Owen Sound Attack starts at 5:30 p.m. The Saginaw County Chamber lists a “Gotta Collect ’Em All Night” card show in the Jolt Celebration Club from 2 p.m., with an autograph session featuring five or six Spirit players after the game.
Earlier Sunday, at 2 p.m., the chamber and Castle Museum offer a free Brady Hill Cemetery walking tour at 400 E. Holland Ave. Castle Museum Chief Historian Tom Trombley leads the walk on Saginaw’s oldest cemetery, its landscape and notable residents. Registration is required and space is limited; comfortable shoes are recommended.
Zoo Boo at the Saginaw Children’s Zoo, presented by Jolt Credit Union, also runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, according to Jolt’s event calendar.
