Things to do in Saginaw Oct. 23–25: MercyMe at the Dow, a costumed Jack-O-Dash and an art museum masquerade
SAGINAW, Mich. — The weekend before Halloween brings two big nights to the Dow Event Center, a Saginaw Spirit home game against Flint on Friday and a Sunday concert by Christian rock band MercyMe, plus a run of free costume-and-candy events across Saginaw County.
Most of the family events are free. The concert, the hockey game, the art museum party and the haunted house charge admission, and a few events ask families to register ahead of time.
Friday, Oct. 23. The day starts downtown with Halloween at the Market, a free trick-or-treat among vendors and community groups from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the SVRC Marketplace, 203 S. Washington Ave., according to the event listing.
Out on Sheridan Road, Saginaw County Parks and the Saginaw YMCA host the Jack-O-Dash Fun Run/Walk from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Price Nature Center, 6685 Sheridan Road. The ¾-mile route is meant for costumes, the first 50 registered participants get a free pumpkin, and the night includes costume prizes, treats and a campfire, MLive reported. It’s free; registration is through Saginaw County Parks.
The Spirit face the Flint Firebirds at 7:05 p.m. at the Dow Event Center, 303 Johnson St. For adults, the Saginaw Art Museum, 1126 N. Michigan Ave., holds Art After Dark: Museum Masquerade from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $30 for guests 21 and older and include two drink tickets and snacks, with 20-minute “Spooky Art” tours at 7:30 and 8:15 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 24. Hoyt Main Library offers a ghost tour for teens and adults from 2 to 3 p.m.; registration is required, according to the Public Libraries of Saginaw calendar. That evening, the Saginaw Township Soccer Association holds its fifth annual Trunk or Treat from 6 to 8 p.m. at 3575 McCarty Road.
Sunday, Oct. 25. MercyMe headlines the Dow Event Center at 7 p.m. with Jeremy Camp, Tim Timmons and Sam Wesley. The venue’s listing promises sing-alongs to MercyMe’s “I Can Only Imagine” and Camp’s “I Still Believe.” Tickets are sold on Ticketmaster and at the Dow box office, open Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Groups of four or more can ask the box office about a discount, and parking is cashless.
All weekend. The 1929 Montague Inn, 1581 S. Washington Ave., hosts Mystical Mansion Weekend, with psychic and palm readers, wellness sessions, artisan vendors and an after-hours ghost hunt in the historic mansion. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, and admission is $10 a day, Thumbwind reported. Downtown haunted house Factory of the Dead, 906 Lapeer Ave., sells timed tickets online starting at $25.
