Port Sanilac’s Haunted Village and Port Austin’s Zombie Crawl fill Saturday night on the Thumb Coast
PORT SANILAC, Mich. — Families who want a Thumb Coast Halloween without driving to Caseville’s Witch Walk next week have a full Saturday on Oct. 17, from a Port Austin fairy-tale afternoon to a Port Sanilac haunted village after dark.
The Sanilac County Historic Village & Museum at 228 S. Ridge St. hosts Haunted Village from 7 to 9 p.m., according to Thumbcoast.org. The museum’s season calendar lists the event for Oct. 10 and Oct. 17. Admission is $5 per person at the gate, and children must be with an adult.
The listing promises trick-or-treating through the historic grounds, a family-friendly trail and a “super spooky” trail, a $1 creepy-doll contest in the train depot, bonfires, s’mores and hot cider or cocoa. Costumes are encouraged. The museum’s phone is (810) 622-9946.
Same day in Port Austin: The Greater Port Austin Area Chamber lists a Fairy Tale Trail from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Port Austin History Center, 1424 Pointe Aux Barques Road, and a Zombie Crawl from 3 p.m. onward at Lake Street Local. The chamber’s fall guide also flags Nightmare on Lake Street for Oct. 17; check the chamber at (989) 738-7600 or chamber@portaustinarea.com for ride times and seat availability before you drive.
Next Saturday, Oct. 24, Caseville’s Witch Walk and Nightmare on Prospect Street pick up the Huron County end of the lakeshore calendar, per the Caseville Area Chamber and Thumbcoast.org. Autumn Acres in Harbor Beach lists haunted corn-maze nights Oct. 24 and 31.
October lake wind can scrub outdoor hours with little notice. Confirm each stop on the host site before you leave.
