Grand Haven football falls 41-20 to Caledonia on senior night and heads to Grandville at 4-4
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Caledonia scored 34 first-half points and beat Grand Haven 41-20 on Friday night at Grand Haven High School, spoiling the Buccaneers’ senior night and dropping them to 4-4 with one regular-season game left.
The Fighting Scots led 34-6 at halftime, according to the game recap posted on MaxPreps. The Bucs won the second half 14-7 but could not close the gap.
Grand Haven’s athletics calendar billed the 7 p.m. kickoff as Young Bucs Night, Senior Night and Bucs Pride Night.
Caledonia improved to 7-1. Its only loss came Oct. 9, when East Kentwood won 49-27 at Caledonia, according to season results compiled by Michigan Sports Radio.
The defeat snapped a two-game Grand Haven winning streak. The Bucs won 34-22 at Jenison on Oct. 2 and edged West Ottawa 41-40 at home a week later, the results show. Those wins followed a three-game September skid against Hudsonville, East Kentwood and Rockford.
Grand Haven opened the season 2-0, beating Spring Lake 35-34 in overtime and winning 17-14 at Muskegon Reeths-Puffer.
Next: The Bucs close the regular season at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Grandville, MaxPreps lists. Grandville is 3-5 after a 62-8 win at Jenison on Friday. A Grand Haven win would leave the Bucs 5-4. Caledonia hosts West Ottawa the same night.
