Things to do in Grand Haven Oct. 24: downtown trick-or-treating at Fall Fest, Halloween at the Tri-Cities museum and a trunk-or-treat with airplanes
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Saturday, Oct. 24, gives Grand Haven families three free chances to trick-or-treat in one day, starting downtown in the morning and ending on the tarmac at the city’s airport.
Here is the schedule, according to the city’s community calendar and Visit Grand Haven.
Morning — Fall Fest and trick-or-treating, Downtown and Centertown. Fall Fest runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the city calendar (Visit Grand Haven lists a 10 a.m. start), with seasonal shopping and activities along Washington Avenue and in the Centertown district. Trick-or-treating at participating businesses runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The festival closes out Bones About Town, the citywide display of more than 150 decorated skeletons, whose popular voting closes at noon Friday, Oct. 23.
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Halloween at the Museum. The Tri-Cities Historical Museum, 200 Washington Ave., invites children inside for indoor trick-or-treating and crafts. It is a short walk from the downtown trick-or-treat route, which makes it a good stop if the weather turns.
2 to 4 p.m. — Trunk or Treat (with Airplanes). The Grand Haven Aviation Association hosts a trick-or-treat at Grand Haven Airport, 16446 Comstock St., where local pilots hand out candy from their aircraft instead of car trunks.
Plan ahead. Visit Grand Haven lists Fall Fest as free, and the city’s listings for the museum and airport events mention no charge. Costumes are encouraged, and lakeshore weather in late October can change quickly, so pack layers for the outdoor stops.
