WARREN, Mich. — During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Warren police and Turning Point Macomb are pointing to Operation Cycle Break, a partnership that changes how officers and advocates respond after domestic violence calls.

Turning Point says it deepened work with Warren police on Operation Cycle Break in 2025. Local 4 / ClickOnDetroit reported this week that the program connects survivors with immediate support when officers respond to domestic violence calls. Turning Point’s Oct. 8 statement said the work has brought more warrant requests in domestic violence cases and stronger victim follow-up.

A February 2026 Police1 case study by Warren Police Lt. Jim Twardesky said the department launched the program in May 2025 after finding that most violent crime in the city had a domestic violence connection. In the first four months, the department reported a 7% overall drop in domestic violence and a 57% drop in offender recidivism, Twardesky wrote. The model adds lethality assessments on scene, closer monitoring of offenders and random follow-ups with victims three to 10 days after an incident, with Turning Point providing advocacy and services.

Turning Point says it serves more than 27,000 survivors and community members a year and keeps a 24-hour hotline at 586-463-6990. The agency also maintains an office in the 16th Circuit Court to help with personal protection orders, its Oct. 8 release said.

Anyone in immediate danger should call 911. For confidential support in Macomb County, Turning Point’s hotline is 586-463-6990.
