GRAND LEDGE, Mich. — The weekend of Oct. 10-11 west of Lansing had one event for people who like to move and one for people who like to sit and listen, both a short drive from Delta Township.

On Saturday morning, Eaton County Parks and Recreation held its ninth annual Timber Trails 5K at Fitzgerald Park, 133 Fitzgerald Park Drive in Grand Ledge. The race was set to start at 9 a.m., and the parks department described the course as slightly challenging, with changes in elevation over grass, gravel roads and wooded trails.

Registration was $30 and stayed open through race day, according to the race’s sign-up page. Groups of three or more who registered together saved $3 each. Packet pickup opened at 7:45 a.m. Runners lined up at the front and walkers at the back, and walkers had to finish by 10:30 a.m. to get an official time. Proceeds went to county trail development.

Awards were set for the top overall and masters finishers, with medals for the top three in each age group. The Michigan Running Foundation handled the timing.

On Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., the Grand Ledge Area District Library, 131 E. Jefferson St., hosted Six Voices in Autumn, at which six area writers were scheduled to talk about their craft and read from their work. Admission was free, with refreshments, according to the chamber of commerce calendar.

Later this month, the Grand Ledge Chamber of Commerce’s Bridge Street Trick or Treat brings costumed children downtown on Friday, Oct. 30, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Updated Oct. 12, 2026: These events took place Oct. 10-11. This guide was published before them, and its schedule language has been changed to the past tense. Bridge Street Trick or Treat is still ahead on Oct. 30.

Updated Oct. 13, 2026: The headline and summary were changed to the past tense for events that have already taken place.
