Grand Ledge builds toward Halloween with a night-lights walk, a masquerade and trick-or-treating on Bridge Street
GRAND LEDGE, Mich. — Costumed kids take over downtown Grand Ledge on Friday, Oct. 30, when the Grand Ledge Area Chamber of Commerce holds Bridge Street Trick or Treat from 5 to 7 p.m. along Bridge Street and Bridge Street Plaza.
The Grand Ledge Area District Library, 131 E. Jefferson St., starts the evening early. From 4 to 6 p.m., young children and their parents can collect treats from friendly costumed characters in what the library calls its “gently haunted” building. No registration is needed, according to the library.
Citywide trick-or-treating is the next night, Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., the chamber’s calendar shows.
The library fills the weeks before with Halloween programs. A Halloween Night Lights Walk and Scavenger Hunt runs Oct. 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Friends of the Library hold a Masquerade Ball fundraiser on Oct. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m., and pumpkin decorating is Oct. 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
For grown-up ghost-story fans, a “Haunted Michigan – Mysteries of the Great Lakes” program is set for Oct. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library.
Families who would rather be outdoors can try “Fall into The Woods: Campfire Science & S’mores” at Lincoln Brick Park, 13991 Tallman Road, on Oct. 17 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Grand Ledge sits just west of Delta Township along the Grand River. Some library programs on the chamber calendar require registration, so check the listing before you go.
