Classic cars, library parties and the city’s Harvest Treat fill Warren’s Halloween month

WARREN, Mich. — Warren families have a free Halloween outing almost every week from now to the end of the month, from decorated classic cars in a church lot to the city’s own trick-or-treat night at the Warren Community Center.

The largest is Harvest Treat, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, on the community center’s football field at 5460 Arden Ave., south of 14 Mile Road and west of Mound. The city’s fall guide lists trick-or-treating, free pumpkins, face painting and selfie stations. It is for Warren residents only, and the city asks families to bring ID.

Five days earlier, Christ Lutheran Church, 32300 Schoenherr Road, holds its Classic Car Trunk-or-Treat from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. Costumed children make the rounds of decorated cars for wrapped candy and snacks, with activities such as a guessing game. The church says the outdoor event costs nothing and anyone may come.

The Warren Public Library fills in the rest of the calendar, according to the same guide. Children 5 to 11 could build spooky gingerbread houses at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Civic Center Library, One City Square. Tweens and teens 10 to 17 can paint and decorate small pumpkins, with supplies provided, at 6 p.m. Oct. 22 at Miller Library, 5460 Arden.

Burnette Library, 23345 Van Dyke, throws a Halloween party with games, treats and a craft for ages 10 to 17 at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27. Younger children, 3 to 10, are invited to come in costume to a party at the Civic Center Library at 6 p.m. the next night. Miller Library has a drop-in craft and treat for ages 4 to 11 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, and Busch Library, 23333 Ryan, offers a craft and a treat to all ages from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Halloween.

All month, Miller Library is also holding a candy jar contest for ages 10 to 17. Guess how many pieces of candy corn are in the jar at the circulation desk, and the closest guess wins it.

Some library programs ask families to register, so it is worth calling the branch before going. The fall guide lists each branch’s phone number.

Updated Oct. 13, 2026: The Civic Center Library’s spooky gingerbread houses program was Saturday, Oct. 10; that stop is now in the past tense. Christ Lutheran’s Classic Car Trunk-or-Treat (Oct. 17), Harvest Treat (Oct. 22), Miller Library pumpkin decorating (Oct. 22) and later library parties remain ahead.
