Midland Dow, winners of four straight, hosts Lapeer on Friday before the crosstown finale
MIDLAND, Mich. — Midland Dow will try to make it five wins in a row when Lapeer visits for a 7 p.m. nonconference game Friday at Midland Community Football Stadium.
The Chargers are 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the Saginaw Valley League, second in their league standings, according to MaxPreps. They have beaten Bay City Western, Traverse City Central, Traverse City West and Bay City Central since a 28-7 home loss to Mount Pleasant on Sept. 11. Last week’s 57-18 win at Bay City Central was their largest margin of that stretch.
Dow has scored 239 points and allowed 156. Four of its five wins have come on the road.
Lapeer is 2-5 and 1-2 in its league after a 35-0 loss at Midland High last week, MaxPreps shows. The Lightning’s wins came against Saginaw United and Carman-Ainsworth. They have scored 110 points and allowed 216, and they are on a three-game losing streak.
Common thread: Midland High blanked Lapeer a week ago. Dow’s next game is the crosstown meeting at Midland High on Oct. 23. Lapeer hosts Davison the same night.
