MIDLAND, Mich. — Sanford Meridian took a share of the Jack Pine Conference Division 2 championship Friday with a 42-14 win over Harrison, the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Bay & Thumb headline for Week 6.

The Mustangs are 6-0. MHSAA.com said Meridian could win the title outright the next week against Beaverton. The review praised Meridian’s defense as much as the offense — Harrison entered averaging 44.8 points per game.

Midland Dow also had a big night, beating Traverse City West 52-24. MHSAA.com said the Chargers (4-2) stayed one game behind Saginaw Valley League North leader Mount Pleasant and handed West (3-3) its first league defeat.

The Midland Daily News coverage was cited by MHSAA.com for Meridian-Harrison detail. Selection Sunday is Oct. 25, with three regular-season weeks then left for Dow and Meridian to firm up playoff seeding.

Updated Oct. 12, 2026: Meridian beat Beaverton 55-0 on Oct. 9, MaxPreps results show, the win MHSAA.com had said would give the Mustangs the Jack Pine Division 2 title outright. Meridian is 7-0 and 4-0 in the division and plays Gladwin on Oct. 16. Records above are as of the week of the game.
