Muskegon Mona Shores edges Byron Center 29-28 to seize OK Green lead
MUSKEGON, Mich. — One point separated Muskegon Mona Shores from a statement win Friday. The Sailors beat Byron Center 29-28 and moved alone into first place in the Ottawa-Kent Conference Green, according to the Michigan High School Athletic Association.
Mona Shores is 5-1. MHSAA.com said the Sailors snapped a two-game losing streak against the Bulldogs (4-2) and could clinch a share of the league title the next week against Muskegon High. Local Sports Journal coverage was cited for more on the finish.
MLive’s Muskegon-area Week 6 takeaways also tracked Muskegon High’s 30-7 win over Forest Hills Northern. The Big Reds leaned on a heavy run game and climbed to No. 32 in Division 2 playoff points, MLive reported, with Mona Shores next on the schedule.
