Harbor Beach visits Laker Friday after first win of the season
HARBOR BEACH, Mich. — Harbor Beach carries its first win of the season into Friday night’s road game at Laker, a Big Thumb matchup that pairs a streaking Pigeon club with a Pirates team that finally broke through last week.
Harbor Beach is 1-6 overall and 1-3 in the Big Thumb Black Division, sitting fourth in the division on MaxPreps standings. The Pirates opened with six straight losses, including a 34-0 defeat at Cass City on Aug. 27 and a 22-14 home loss to Vassar on Oct. 2. On Oct. 9 they beat Reese 21-8 on the road — their only win of the year, according to MaxPreps results.
Laker is 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Big Thumb White Division, listed second in that division. The Lakers have won four in a row after an early loss at Lakewood and a conference setback at Millington. Recent results include a 45-14 home win over Caro, a 41-22 road win at Sandusky and a 49-6 home win over Cass City on Oct. 9, MaxPreps shows.
Kickoff is 7 p.m. Friday at Laker High School in Pigeon, according to MaxPreps and the NFHS Network listing. Harbor Beach hosts Millington on Oct. 23. Laker is scheduled to host Communication Media Arts the same night.
