STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. — Families from Warren and the rest of southern Macomb County get a full fall weekend at Freedom Hill County Park, where Macomb County HarvestFest runs from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 18.

The festival sets up at the pavilion at 14900 Metro Parkway in Sterling Heights, according to HarvestFest Events. Admission is $10 per person with ticketing fees included. Organizers list more than 40 trick-or-treat stations, hayrides, a corn maze, a petting zoo, an inflatable zone, outdoor movies, live music, and Birds of Prey, reptile and Mad Science shows, plus princess and superhero characters.

The corn maze and petting zoo are billed as Macomb-only extras among the regional HarvestFest stops. Guests are asked to wear costumes and to bring canned goods or non-perishable protein for a food drive benefiting Forgotten Harvest, collected at the park entrance with First State Bank as a partner.

Freedom Hill sits a short drive from Warren along Metro Parkway, making the weekend an easy add-on for households that already have Warren’s city Harvest Treat and library parties on the calendar later in the month.

The same Saturday morning, Sterling Heights offers a free-for-residents Sterling Frights at Dodge Park, 40250 Dodge Park Road, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with hay rides, a straw maze, crafts, trick-or-treating and Upton House tours, according to the city’s events page. An adults-only Boos & Brews follows from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. the same day with advance registration.

For an indoor Halloween option Sunday afternoon, the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts in Clinton Township presents Haunted Illusions with David Caserta at 3 p.m. Oct. 18 on the Main Stage. Tickets start at $49, with youth tickets (ages 12 and under) at $25, the center says. The 44575 Garfield Road venue is about a 15-minute drive from central Warren.

HarvestFest contact is listed as 586-419-0332. Sterling Heights special events can be reached at 586-446-2692; the Macomb Center box office is 586-286-2222.
